Asana Practice

The Asana Practice (physical yoga practice) is only the 3rd Limb off the 8 Limbs of Yoga.  It is a way to WORSHIP your body.  The purpose of this 3rd limb of yoga is not only to physically strengthen and condition your body, but also to instill a sense of discipline in oneself.  It is also to allow you to become aware of your true inner self by connecting your breath with your body movements.  This “self disciple” and “inner awareness” are key elements to calming the mind and reaching higher meditative states.     The most important piece of equipment you need for doing yoga are your body and your mind. – Rodney Lee Click To Tweet

What’s important to understand is that you “do not” have to be able to do the full expression of a pose to benefit from it.  How far you bend or stretch should be intuitive – based on the capabilities of “your body.”  Yoga is not a competition or a work out.  It is rather a “work in.”

Therefore my “mission” for this site is to make yoga accessible to everyone.  When I explain a pose, I am hoping to offer variations for it so that you can pick the expression that best suits your body’s capabilities!
